Update July 2023: Despite the media hype, a recession has failed to materialize, and many…
in with the new
Year-end is one of my favorite times in the business cycle. It’s our big chance to evaluate what we accomplished in the past 12 months and where we’d like to go in the new year.
On social media we’ve been posting our top projects of 2017. (See my Facebook and Instagram feeds, and if you give me a follow I’ll reciprocate.)
What a long strange trip it’s been.
My business career started in the mid-’80s, and I can’t remember in all that time a year as odd as this one.
The radically changing political, social and economic realities of 2017 seemed to fuel creative endeavors and help us forge new partnerships. One shining example is the cultivation of strategic partnerships with exceptionally talented creative and tech professionals whose work compliments my own and strengthens our collective business offerings.
Digital Marketing: Our partnership with Clear Blue Sky Digital really took off this year. We’ve collaborated on multiple client projects, redesigned CBSD’s website, and (re)optimized my website/local search. For the new year we’re offering a new web design + digital marketing package to help other businesses go to the next level. Details here.
Visual Branding: Professional collaboration with Roberta and Shawn King of The King’s Touch Video Production & Cinematography and April Jack of All 4 Design has also been a huge highlight of the year. The Kings bring their LA style to the San Diego market to create branded web video and TV spots for consumer and business-to-business clients. April’s versatility in graphic design and expertise in digital and print media help us take clients’ branding to the next level.
Web Dev: Alfredo Sanchez, my rockstar web developer for four years, had the audacity to move to London, marry his soulmate and get a full-time job in England. As Alfredo moved on to create the life of his dreams (and we wish him all the best, of course), one of my favorite photography collaborators began to reveal his gifts as a WordPress guru. Robert Muller is now a frequent contributor of web development and tech expertise as well as custom photography for our projects.
2017 Projects: On the client side, 2017 was a year of marketing expansion for commercial real estate broker Shelly Branscom and interior designer Lisa Samuel and her team at Samuel Design Group. Corvue Holdings and Pueblo Bonito Bed-and-Breakfast Inn got major website redesigns. We also had the pleasure of bringing Harry’s Fine Clothing and nutritional consultant Anja Nickolenko up to speed with their first professional websites. Another big chunk of our work this year was behind the scenes in strategy development for clients we’re helping get noticed in the marketplace in 2018.
Image is everything.
It was a fun year for photography with multiple on-location shoots and some studio work. We love creating images for our clients’ websites, portfolios, social media and special events. More about our photography services here.
Next up.
It’s been a pleasure collaborating with colleagues and clients in 2017 and we wish you a brilliant new year with even greater prosperity and peace in 2018. If you’re in need of web design, marketing or photography services to boost your image in the new year, email me. Or call 858.224.2826.
